Product Information

  PHOENIX (Modified)
  Transfiguration > Cartridge

The new Phoenix with 4-ohms (internal impedance) version and 5N silver wire in the coils has a sophisticated ability to resolve musical detail, with excellent air and an ability to retrieve information in soft passages and where subtle musical harmonics are important.

"Accuracy" defines precisely the ability of a cartridge to recreate the original recorded sound. Greater accuracy provides more of the music - the direct sound, and the myriad of recording environment subtleties which add more and more of the "soundstage".

The subtleties which are the intimate detail. Ultimately, a more musical sound. Ideally, the music, immutable. Indeed, it seemed the ultimate moving coil design was already with us. Only to be continuously, reo-refined, at ever -- more-esoteric prices.

Design Concept:
Now, in these final days of the glories of analog, there is a whole new frontier to the magic of recorded music. The magnetic-field-dispersing yokes, and coils suffering variable magnetic influences of all other moving coil designs are replaced by a single assembly.

  • Just two coils within double ring 'neodymium' magnets
  • No Yokes
  • No magnetic irregularities
  • Coils at the crux of the magnetic focus
  • Intimate coil/magnet coupling
  • Refined simple body shape

Technical Details:

  1. Neodymium Magnet

By the use of a much higher induced magnetism of the neodymium magnet in the 'front' and rear of the double ring magnets, the wire-winding of a generator has been reduced. It is very helpful to reduce the internal impedance, which contributes to the improvement in the solidarity with transparency. As a result, the new Phoenix provides much more lifelike, alive re-creation of recorded sound than the old one.

  2. Twin coils on the cantilever fulcrum

Minimizes dynamic mass and mechanical impedance, enabling instant, accurate reaction to every groove detail, including the ability to handle massive transients without overshoot or break-up.

  3. Push pull damping

A special compound has been meticulously designed and fabricated to provide total stylus/coil alignment and control. Its non-sensitivity to temperature change keeps the damping coefficient stable and improves tracing accuracy.

  4. Special alloy core for coil assembly

Increases sensitivity by 27dB, improves signal to noise ratio eliminating a usual source of distortion. Cross¬talk between channels is appreciably enhanced.

  5. Low mass tip

Ogura PA (3 x 30um) tip shares many of the advantages of the flagship MC cartridge "The Orpheus". Its function is to reproduce the character of the original recorded sound - not add or subtract its own deficiences. The new stip brings new levels of freedom from distortion as well as new orders of phase accuracy and transient response.

  6. Anti-resonance cartridge body

The solid cartridge body utilizes both shape and material to create a totally inert environment for the electro¬magnetic elements. These elements are more effectively insulated from arm, turntable and tracing noises, further reducing any tonal coloration of the music and lessening the illusion of distracting mechanical noises. The body provides full, rich musical body, true musical timbres, and natural dimensionality.
